Welcome to Roots Academy. Our conduct code is established to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students. We believe that a community built on mutual respect and shared faith provides the strongest foundation for secular academic achievement and spiritual growth.

Student Rights and Responsibilities
Right to a Safe Environment
Every student at Roots Academy has the right to learn in an environment that is emotionally, physically, and spiritually safe, free from bullying or harassment.
Duty to Respect
Students have the responsibility to show respect to teachers, staff, and peers, honoring the diverse community and the faith-based values of Minnesota.
Academic Responsibility
Students are responsible for their own learning, arriving on time, participating actively, and completing assignments to the best of their academic ability.
Islamic Dress Code & Modesty
- Our Standards: Roots Academy maintains a dress code that reflects our dedication to faith-based values and modesty. We believe that appropriate attire fosters a respectful learning environment focused on academic excellence and spiritual growth.
- Students must abide by an Islamic dress code that reflects modesty and the school's faith-based values.
- Clean, neat, and well-maintained uniforms are required daily.
- Modest cuts for all students, ensuring clothing is not tight-fitting or transparent.
- Specific requirements for head coverings and length of garments as outlined in the parent handbook.
- Footwear must be safe and appropriate for indoor and outdoor activities.
Roots Academy Code of Conduct
1. Introduction & Purpose
Roots Academy is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environment where academic excellence meets faith-based values. Our Code of Conduct ensures that every student can grow in a setting defined by respect, responsibility, and community safety.
2. Student Rights and Responsibilities
Students have the right to a physical and emotional environment that is free from disruption. Students are responsible for their own actions, including following teacher directions, respecting school property, and treating peers with kindness (Adab).
3. Dress Code Policy
Roots Academy requires all students to maintain a neat and clean appearance. Islamic Dress Code Subsection: In accordance with our faith-based values, students must abide by an Islamic dress code that reflects modesty. Clothing should be loose-fitting and non-transparent. Specific details regarding uniform requirements are provided in the Parent Handbook.
4. Behavior Expectations & Safety
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying, harassment, or physical violence. Students are expected to walk safely in hallways, use appropriate indoor voices, and resolve conflicts through peaceful dialogue and mediation consistent with Minnesota school safety standards.
5. Disciplinary Actions & Due Process
Disciplinary actions are designed to be corrective and educational. Measures range from verbal warnings and parent conferences to suspension, depending on the severity. Due process ensures every student and parent is heard before final disciplinary decisions are made.
6. Acknowledgment & Agreement
By enrolling at Roots Academy, parents and students acknowledge they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct to ensure the highest standards of safety and faith-based character development.
